Michigan State University (MSU) has experienced a rapid increase in COVID-19 positivity rates since students moved back to campus for spring semester. The increase also is a result of a failure by some Spartans to adhere to our health and safety guidelines. To reduce transmission, we are issuing a period of enhanced physical distancing, which will be in effect Sunday, Jan. 31 through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13. On-campus residents received an email with further information on Jan. 30.
During the enhanced physical distancing period, the following changes will be in effect for campus dining:
- Seating areas in Brody Square, South Pointe at Case, The Edge at Akers and MSU Union Food Court will be closed.
- Dining halls will be open for takeout and mobile ordering only. Grab and go options are also available at retail locations.
- MSU Union Food Court hours will be adjusted to Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, closed.
- MSU Union Sparty’s hours will be adjusted to Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
As a reminder, mobile ordering can be used to pre-order a meal for pick up from Brody Square, South Pointe at Case and The Edge at Akers. When using the Transact Mobile Ordering app, students can pay with an on-campus dining plan, Spartan Cash or debit/credit card. Details can be found online.
For complete details on the enhanced distancing in effect, please visit the Together We Will website. If you have any questions regarding campus dining, contact our team at 517-884-0660 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are feeling ill or have tested positive for COVID-19 and have questions, contact MSU’s COVID-19 Triage Hotline at 855-958-2678 or your primary health care provider.
If we increase our distance now, we vastly increase the chances of being able to come together safely later this semester. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time, as we work to keep the Spartan community safe and healthy.
