Culinary Services Evaluates Dining Locations for Fall 2020

Throughout the summer, MSU Culinary Services (CS) has continued to assess the needs of our Spartan community, closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and communicating changes with students and guests.

As we approach fall semester, the team remains committed to keeping patrons safe and identifying required actions that will help us move toward a successful future. During the planning process, we have considered how financial and budgetary restrictions, anticipated staffing levels, student attendance and resulting needs, and other effects of the pandemic impact campus dining operations.

After careful evaluation, we have identified several locations that will not reopen for fall semester 2020. These locations are listed below, along with dining options nearby that we look forward to opening in the fall.

Residential Dining

  • Wilson Dining Hall
Holden Dining Hall and South Pointe at Case located nearby. South Pointe at Case will serve as the late-night dining hall for South Neighborhood. Please note we have made the difficult decision to permanently close this location.

Sparty’s Locations

  • Administration Building
MSU Union Food Court and Sparty’s in the MSU Union located nearby

  • Communication Arts and Sciences
Sparty’s in the Engineering Building and Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building located nearby

  • Main Library

  • Wonders Hall

Starbucks Locations

  • Broad Art Museum Proudly Serving Café

As noted above, Wilson Dining Hall will not reopen in the future; however, students in South Neighborhood continue to have access to Holden Dining Hall and South Pointe at Case as well as nearby Sparty’s locations.

The CS team will re-evaluate retail locations listed above after fall semester and determine if adjustments need to be made.

While difficult decisions are necessary, we feel these changes are essential to ensure CS can focus on implementing health and safety measures, providing the high-quality service Spartans are accustomed to, and continuing to follow national, state, local and university guidance as we update plans.
