MSU vs. U-M Culinary Throwdown

MSU vs. U-M Culinary Throwdown

Before the big in-state rivalry game, join Eat at State and Michigan Dining for the fourth annual Culinary Throwdown! This year's event will be hosted by MSU on the basketball courts west of Shaw Hall.

The Culinary Throwdown began in 2015 in Ann Arbor. The three-round cooking contest features student and executive chefs from each school. Styled after the television show Iron Chef, the competition between the two rivals is held at the university hosting the football game. The following competitors will represent MSU:

  • Student Chefs Jammie Simmons and Megan Dowell
  • Executive Chefs Dien Ly and Eric Batten
  • Corporate Executive Chef Kurt Kwiatkowski

Fans will be treated to complimentary tailgate food while supplies last, including pulled pork sliders, smokestack coleslaw, Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce, mac and cheese, vegan lentil cups, breakfast burritos with optional Tabasco sauce, a street food sandwich featuring the Incredible Egg by the American Egg Board and MSU Bakers game-day cookies. The event is sponsored by the National Pork Board, American Egg Board, Hormel and Tabasco.
