The annual Culinary Cup and Bake Off hosted by Culinary Services will be held Thursday, May 30 beginning at 8 a.m. at South Pointe at Case. Established in 2001, the Culinary Cup is an annual Chopped-style cooking challenge consisting of multiple rounds of competition. Teams of two representing MSU dining neighborhoods and the Spartan Hospitality Group are given specific mystery ingredients to prepare a dish. The winning team from each round will compete in the final round of competition.
Culinary Cup judges include Sparrow Executive Chef Laura Fellows, Americrown Chef and Culinary Arts Instructor Corbett Day and MSU Residence Education and Housing Services (REHS) Assistant Director of Outreach Karen Corley. Finished entries for the Culinary Cup will be judged on presentation, taste, texture, completeness, originality, plate composition and use of the mystery basket ingredients.
In addition, there will be teams submitting baked goods for the chance to be named the 2019 Bake Off champions, following a cookie theme. Judging for the Bake Off will be completed by Culinary Services Human Resources Coordinator Donyelle Hayhoe, REHS Facilities Supervisor Shawn Rawson and REHS Assistant Director of Outreach Karen Corley and REHS Facilities Manager Jim Steingreaber.
