Culinary Team Focuses on Giving Back to the Community

MSU Culinary Services (CS) is proud to give back to the community and focus on engaging with partners on campus and in the surrounding area. In recent months, staff has participated in a variety of projects to allow everyone to grow individually and as a team.

An important goal for the East Neighborhood dining team has been to dedicate time to volunteer work. After reaching out to partners across campus, one of their primary service projects was spending time working with Habitat for Humanity. They completed 125 hours of community service for the organization, remodeling a 100-year-old home.

“This volunteer project brought us together as a team,” shared Naomi Gauldin, assistant dining service manager at The Edge at Akers. “We laughed and helped one another with the projects.”

Volunteer opportunities have continued to be an area of focus for the department. On Friday, Sept. 20, CS team members participated in United Way’s Day of Caring. Additionally, retail team members continue to support the MSU Day of Service, volunteering at the MSU Student Organic Farm on Saturday, Sept. 21.
