On-campus Plans
When signing their housing contract, on-campus students choose one of the three dining plans below (Silver, Gold or Platinum).
2026-27 Standard Rates: $3,985 for Silver* | $4,135 for Gold | $4,285 for Platinum
*The Silver Plan is included as part of the MSU housing agreement. All residential students are required to have a dining plan, which is a mandatory and binding component of the agreement. Students with medically restricted diets who may need accommodations should refer to the Dietary Accommodations Policy and review the Nutrition and Allergen webpage on Eat at State for resources.
DineOn Silver
- Included with the housing agreement.
- Unlimited access to all-you-care-to-eat locations.
- 12 Combo-X-Change (CX) redemptions per week, Sunday through Saturday. Learn more about CX in our FAQs!
- Spartan Cash is not included but can be added. Guest meal passes are not included; however, guests can pay the public rate at the door.
DineOn Gold
- Unlimited access to all-you-care-to-eat locations
- 12 Combo-X-Change (CX) redemptions per week, Sunday through Saturday. Learn more about CX in our FAQs!
- $150 Spartan Cash and four guest meal passes per semester. Unused Spartan Cash remains on your ID card. Guest passes expire at the end of the semester.
DineOn Platinum
- Unlimited access to all-you-care-to-eat locations
- 12 Combo-X-Change (CX) redemptions per week, Sunday through Saturday. Learn more about CX in our FAQs!
- $300 Spartan Cash and eight guest meal passes per semester. Unused Spartan Cash remains on your ID card. Guest passes expire at the end of the semester.
To select or change an on-campus dining plan, please contact the Housing Assignments Office at 517-884-5483 or liveon@msu.edu. Dining plans are non-refundable. After dining plans are activated for the semester, students may not downgrade to another dining plan (e.g., from Gold to Silver) because of the Spartan Cash included in two dining plan options.

Block Plan (Off-Campus)
Students living in Owen Hall, Williams Hall, Van Hoosen Hall, University Apartments, 1855 Place, or at an off-campus property may purchase meal swipes with our Block Plan.
(MSU students living off-campus or commuting to campus are also welcome to purchase an unlimited dining plan (Silver, Gold or Platinum) under ‘On-campus Plans’ above; however, you must do so over the phone by calling 517-884-0660.)
Grubhub Mobile Order Pickup is included as a Combo-X-Change (CX) with the Block Plan.
With an off-campus Block Plan, save up to $4 per meal off the standard public dining rate. Below are the sample options for purchasing a plan. (The Block Plan is sold with a minimum of 10 meal swipes). For example, if you would like 30 meals total, enter "3" as the quantity on the ordering page.

- Meal swipes may be used to access all-you-care-to-eat dining locations or as a Combo-X-Change (CX) at participating retail locations. Learn more about CX in our FAQs!
- Guests with a Block Plan may use multiple CX meal swipes per day. One meal is deducted for each use. You may also use a meal swipe to bring a guest(s) with you. (One swipe is required for each guest.)
- Block Dining Plans are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- MSU Students: After a student graduates, meal swipes remain active as long as they keep their MSU ID card and use a minimum of one meal swipe per year from July 1 to June 30. Dining plans not used during this time frame will be deactivated.
- Michigan State University reserves the right to change the terms of use for dining plans.
Purchase Options for Block Plan (Off-Campus) and Faculty, Staff, or Affiliate Dining Plans ONLY
- Online: Debit/credit card or EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) online OR to add to your Student Account
- Payments accepted: Debit, credit card or EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) can be made online or added to your Student Account.
- MSUFCU Account: Log in to ComputerLine, select the Manage menu and choose the MSU Dining Plans option under MSUFCU Services to purchase with funds in your account.
