Ramadan Dining Options 2024

Spartans observing Ramadan will have dining options available from MSU Culinary Services. Four of our residential dining halls on campus will offer pre-packaged breakfast options and dinner selections.

Breakfast Options
Two pre-packaged breakfast options will be available to pick up each day during dinner service at Brody Square, South Pointe at Case, The Gallery at Snyder-Phillips and The Edge at Akers.

Students choosing to pick up a breakfast option during dinner service are required to use a Combo-X-Change meal per our usual takeout process.

Daily breakfast options available to pick up during dinner include the following:

Option A

  • Hard-cooked eggs
  • Breakfast cheese burrito
  • Two slices of naan bread with peanut butter
  • Package of 4-5 dates
  • Milk and mango juice

Option B

  • Hard-cooked eggs
  • Apple raisin overnight oats
  • Two slices of naan bread with peanut butter
  • Package of 4-5 dates
  • Milk and mango juice

Dinner Options
For dinner service during Ramadan, our menus will include a halal protein complete plate option as well as an occasional vegan/vegetarian complete plate option.

Guests can find these dinner selections at the following locations in each campus neighborhood for dine-in or takeout. As a reminder, takeout is considered a Combo-X-Change meal.

  • Brody Square (Homestyle venue)
  • South Pointe at Case (MiBowl venue)
  • The Gallery at Snyder-Phillips (New Traditions venue)
  • The Edge at Akers (Tandoori venue)

In addition to Middle Eastern dishes, our dinner menus will offer a variety of world flavors. Please use the links below to access our spring semester dining hours and online menus.

Grab-and-Go Options
Beyond our residential dining hall offerings, specialty products will be offered at all retail locations throughout Ramadan, including halal items. These products will be Combo-X-Change options. Each Sparty’s location will have a minimum of four beverage options (A items), four entrée options (B items) and eight sides/snacks (C items).

Sparty’s mini-markets in Brody, Case and Hubbard will also offer hot Halal grab-and-go items:

  • Brody and Hubbard: Halal Turkey and Cheese Grilled Sandwich
  • Case: Halal BBQ Beef Sandwich and Halal BBQ Beef Grain Bowl

Holden Dining Hall and Holmes Dining Hall will have a variety of hot Halal options offered during Ramadan as well. These grab-and-go options are available with Combo-X-Change. Menus can be viewed at go.msu.edu/diningmenus.
