Culinary Team Partners with Muslim Students’ Association to Host Eid ul Adha Dinner

On Sept. 21, Culinary Services (CS) co-hosted a dinner at The Vista at Shaw in honor of Eid ul Adha, the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year. This significant holiday commemorates accomplishment and serves as a reminder of when Ibrahim (Abraham) was willing to sacrifice his son to God, according to Islamic belief. Eid ul Adha is celebrated with family, parties and traditional food.

The dinner marked a continuation of CS’ partnership with the Michigan State Muslim Students’ Association (MSA), who expressed their appreciation for this collaboration and the chance to recognize Eid with fellow Spartans. Many students are unable to make it home to enjoy this celebration with family due to the timing.

Served out of the Main Street venue, guests enjoyed dishes that are traditionally served during this momentous holiday, including roasted leg of lamb, basmati rice, garlic and red pepper varieties of hummus, pita bread, fattoush salad, goat biryani, garlic naan bread, maamoul date cookies and baklava. Corporate Chef Kurt Kwiatkowski and River Trail Neighborhood Executive Chef Kevin Cruz collaborated with MSA leadership to develop the evening’s menu.
