On Monday, March 5, area residents gathered in East Lansing for the Celebration of Diversity Festival at All Saints Episcopal Church. Organized by several community groups, the event was designed to celebrate the diverse populace of the greater East Lansing area. The festival offered a safe, inclusive en ironment, including having quiet spaces and off-site areas available.
In addition to speakers, music and performances, this family-friendly event featured interfaith meditation, crafts and refreshments. Local vendors, including the Eat at State ON-THE-GO Food Truck and Sultans, served diverse food options for the nearly 350 in attendance.
The Food Truck served nearly 70 customers and offered a combo deal, giving guests the option of adding a beverage and side item to their entrée. The featured entrées were Macaroni and Cheese, BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, Poutine and Smoked Chicken Tacos. Sides included bagged chips and whole fruit, and drinks included Food Truck lemonade, Arnold Palmers and bottled water.
Those in attendance were grateful to have the truck on site as a dinner option, and thankful for the opportunity to peacefully celebrate the diversity of our community.
