Bakery Team to Receive Hands-on Training from AIB International

AIB International, a technology and information-based organization for bakers and food processors, is visiting MSU Bakers May 8-11, 2018, to conduct training. Bakery managers, bakers, baker trainees and a regular team member from South Neighborhood will participate in a 4-day class covering the science of baking for MSU Bakers current product line, including cookies, bagels, bread doughs and cakes. Additionally, the instructor will teach the team about laminated dough, a culinary technique used to create light, flaky product such as Danish, puff pastry and croissant.

Several long-term bakers have retired in recent years, and team members have requested more in-depth training to better understand the foundation of baking and how it relates to MSU Bakers’ product offerings.

Founded in 1919, AIB offers facility visits, resident programs, seminars, webinars, and distance and online learning options. “I personally have been to AIB for classes, and have completed training courses online, and their instruction is very good,” shared Bakery Manager Cindy Baswell. “MSU Bakers and AIB are excited about the opportunity and we look forward to welcoming them to campus.”
