Culinary Services (CS) recently formed several unique partnerships with student groups, helping educate the campus community on food movements and lifestyles.

Persian New Year Dinner

On Friday, March 23, Heritage Commons at Landon hosted a Persian New Year Dinner in honor of Norooz, which translates to “New Day.” The event was organized by Culinary Services (CS) in partnership with the MSU Persian Student Association. Norooz is the new day that begins the year, traditionally the astronomical beginning of spring. Iranians celebrate this day as the first day of the year.

Eat at State ON-THE-GO Food Truck

The Eat at State ON-THE-GO Food Truck is continuing its partnership with the MSU Campus Archaeology Program in March and April. Special historic menu items will be available during Throwback Thursday events on Thursday, March 29 and Thursday, April 19 at The Rock near the MSU Auditorium and Flashback Friday events on Friday, April 13 and Friday, April 27 at 1855 Place.

Food Truck at Celebration of Diversity Festival

On Monday, March 5, area residents gathered in East Lansing for the Celebration of Diversity Festival at All Saints Episcopal Church. Organized by several community groups, the event was designed to celebrate the diverse populace of the greater East Lansing area. The festival offered a safe, inclusive en ironment, including having quiet spaces and off-site areas available.

Help Tackle Hunger

From March 5 through April 7, the campus community is encouraged to donate to the MSU Student Food Bank as part of the Help Tackle Hunger Food Drive.

Student Spartan Chefs

MSU Culinary Services (CS) is proud to host the annual Student Spartan Chefs competition, which allows student chefs to showcase their culinary skills. Stop by Brody Square on Tuesday, March 27 beginning at 4:30 p.m. to cheer them on as they create an entrée and side dish out of a mystery basket of ingredients presented to their team.

MSU Bakers Storefront

MSU Bakers, the on-campus bakery at Michigan State University (MSU), recently announced the opening of an on-campus storefront. Located at 220 Service Road, the renovated space on the west side of the building allows the bakery to offer walk-in purchases of delicious made-from-scratch treats.

NACUFS

The National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) Midwest Regional Conference is coming up March 25-27 in Madison, Wisconsin. Several Culinary Services team members will present at the event, sharing knowledge with foodservice professionals nationwide.

Spring Break Hours

Beginning Friday, March 2, spring break dining hours will be in effect through Sunday, March 11.
